MAAC CRU Creative Carnival 2024

In the heart of the city of joy, MAAC CRU—Chowringhee, Rashbehari, Ultadanga (formerly Kakurgachi)—has been a leading training academy for Animation, Multimedia, Visual Effects, and Gaming. Our aim is to show the great training we give to every student, encouraging them to make big contributions to the animation, multimedia, gaming, and VFX industries.

MAAC Animation Kolkata (CRU) is known for its high-quality learning in Animation, Graphic Design, VFX, and Web-design. Our courses are designed to give students strong foundational knowledge. Experts from our research and development team have designed our curriculum, which includes using Wacom tablets, high-end computers, and other advanced equipment to provide top-notch training. We also have programs to train our faculty to ensure the best standards of teaching. Our classrooms mimic the global VFX & Animation industry to give students real-world experience, helping them win many awards for their work.

We are excited to share about our big event: the “MAAC CRU Creative Carnival 2024.”

MAAC CRU, with over 24 years of experience, hosted this grand event where alumni from all three centers reunited. This was followed by an interactive seminar with top industry professionals. The event ended with our annual cultural fest by our students.

The “MAAC CRU Creative Carnival” was held on 14th June, 2024, at the Academy of Fine Arts (near Rabindra Sadan). The event started with a Lamp lighting ceremony by Mr. Anuj Kacker, the CEO of Aptech, and Mr. Naveen Choudhary, the Director of MAAC Animation Kolkata. The seminar, ‘Dronacharya Speaks,’ featured talks by industry leaders.

Here are some of the key speakers:

Mr. Rajiv Chilaka: Founder & CEO of GreenGold Animation Pvt. Ltd., and the creator of Chhota Bheem. He leads a team of over 800 professionals and has produced many shows, episodes, television movies, and feature films. He also created Mighty Little Bheem, India’s first Netflix animation series.

Mr. Deepesh Bhansali: Senior Manager of Operational Excellence at Cimpress India. He is great at mentoring, motivating, and coaching people, helping them achieve excellence. He helps the creative team come up with ideas, illustrations, and prototypes, and develop unique marketing campaigns.

Mr. Arnab Sanyal: 2D Compositing Supervisor at Industrial Lights & Magic Production. With 20 years in visual effects, he has worked on many notable Indian ad and Bollywood projects. He contributed to academy award-winning films like “The Golden Compass” and “Life of Pi” and played a key role in “The Jungle Book.” He now supervises creative projects at ILM India.

These experts talked about different career opportunities in the digital design industry and the future prospects in graphic design.

We also thank the press and media, including 24 hours, Taza TV, and Woman Times, for their support and coverage. They play a big role as our spokespersons and potential future employers for our students.

Next, we celebrated the LEGENDS OF MAAC – our alumni! Around 69 alumni were honored by Mr. Anuj Kacker and Mr. Naveen Choudhary. It was a moment of pride and emotion as alumni from different backgrounds met their batchmates, juniors, seniors, and faculty members.

The event concluded with Prayas – the cultural fest! Participants showcased amazing performances including comedy plays, dances, Shruti drama, and singing.

Prayas 2024 celebrated the creative minds and hard work of our students, achieving outstanding results.
